BBC report on racing Greyhound Deaths

The BBC has reported on the issue of greyhounds being put down when they come to the end of their racing career. The National Greyhound Racing Club has spoken out against these actions, claiming that they should be a last resort and if carried out, should be undertaken by a vet.

It is claimed 10,000 dogs have been shot and buried in 15 years by a builders’ merchant in County Durham. These dogs are being killed at the age of around 4, when these animals would normally live to around 12. Used to race and make money and then simply disposed of, as if they are not a living, breathing and feeling life.
