Chalky dies aged 17
Many of you will surely know Rick Stein’s dog - Chalky, the lovable Jack Russel who followed his master around everywhere he went, on boats and barges, seaside fishing trips and continental markets, the two were inseparable.
Sadly Chalky passed away on the 13th January 2007 at the age of 17. So loved was he that Tory MP Andrew Pelling has called for a motion to reflect on the “heartache and distress” felt by those at losing a pet, and how they come to be a member of the family like any other member.
Chalky was named after their son had an imaginary white dog with a patch on his head, his owner described him as “an exceptionally good natured dog”, a dog loved by everyone. He was also described by a fisherman local to Rick Stein’s home town as “More famous than Rickey Steinâ€?.
