Steve Irwin Dies in Diving Accident

TV personality and animal lover Steve Irwin has died as a result of a sting ray barb piercing his heart. He was best known for his television series - the Crocodile hunter, a documentary he hosted with his wife Terri in which he would get ‘up close and personal’ with many different species of dangerous animals, including crocodiles, sharks, spiders and many more.

Steve Irwin died at 11am (0100 GMT) at Batt Reef, near Port Douglas, just north of Cairns in Australia.
