Missing Cats

What can we do to help if your cat is missing

We as a pet rescue organisation have been dealing with missing cats for over ten years. Since launching our lost cats pet log, we have had a regular influx of missing cats.

When approached by owners of missing cats, we do all we can do to help, and there are numerous things you can do. Initially it is a good idea to ask neighbours to check their garages an garden sheds or any other place your cat may have been trapped inside. We have had cases of missing cats being found in neighbours sheds, even cases of cats being found dead in sheds.

Secondly, posters should be erected in the surrounding areas, and should also be given to local dustmen, milkmen and postmen, who are common to the area and may have seen your cat.

Missing cats will often return on their own. We have had instances of cats being missing for weeks on end who have returned. Unfortunately, some missing cats are involved in road traffic accidents, and therefore it is worthwhile contacting the local council to check your missing cat has not been hit by a car.

We recommend keeping your cat inside for as long as possible when they are young, so they become more home loving and less likely to stray. If you have or know of anyone with missing cats cases, please contact us for advice or to submit your cat into the lost cats pet log.
